SFEDA Project – Professional Development Forum of the Faculty for Mathematics and Informatics of the University of Sofia

On the 24th of June 2020, the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics (FMI) of the University of Sofia held its annual professional development forum. The SFEDA project team from the University of Ruse was invited to participate in the event and to present its project experience. One of the two presentations that were presented during the event was about the development of the THEASIS system and the possibilities to use drones for various tasks, including early forest fire detection.

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the event was held remotely using the Zoom videoconferencing platform. Representatives of media, newspapers, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, from Trakia University in Stara Zagora and from various universities and institutions from the capital city of Sofia were present in the event and were intrigued and interested in the presented information.

As part of the demonstration, the THEASIS demonstration video was played and presented to all attendants of the meeting.
Following the event, the representative of the University of Ruse were invited to prepare and publish a detailed article in one of the most popular public journals in Bulgaria - the CIO journal.
