A thematic workshop, focused on air quality in Cyprus and in Europe, providing general overview on the existing policies and strategies, was held in Nicosia under the AIRTHINGS Interreg project. The event was entitled: ‘Air Quality in Balkan-Med: Challenges and Solutions’ and was aiming at providing information to general public and relevant stakeholders about air quality, raising awareness and activating public bodies in decision and policy making. Thematic emphasis within the event was given to dust episodes that have affected the island during the current decade. Specific means and prevention actions for monitoring and minimizing the phenomenon of air pollution were also presented.

During the workshop, a special floor was given to all AIRTHINGS partners, who had the opportunity to present each country’s air quality experience along with the project implementation.

The workshop was organized by one of AIRTHINGS PPs – Center for the Advancement of Research & Development in Educational Technology (CARDET) and engaged more than 40 stakeholders, including representatives of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance of the Republic of Cyprus and of Nicosia constituency - Citizens’ Cooperation.
