DISARM Project - The wildfires in California were spread under similar circumstances to the deadly wildfire in Mati

The wildfires in California were spread under similar circumstances to the deadly wildfire in Mati, East Attica,on 23rd July 2018. According to the National Observatory of Athens estimations, based on the WRF-SFIRE system simulations, the weather conditions were very favourable over the rapid spread of fire. The so-called Camp Fire, ignited on 8 November 2018 in California, is considered to be the most destructive wildfire in the state's history. It has already burnt more than 505.000 decares claiming the lives of at least 50 people.
 

The WRF-SFIRE systmen has been developed in the context of the DISARM project funded by the Inetterg Balkan-Mediterranean programme
