The Institute of Economics - Skopje was established in 1952, as an independent institution for economic research. Today, the Institute of Economics-Skopje is an integral unit of the University “Ss. Cyril and Methodius” in Skopje with a 66-year history and tradition both in research and higher education.
The Institute of Economics conducts various fields of research incl.:
(1) in the field of economics;
(2) in the field of organizational sciences;
(3) in the field of demography.
Thus, since its founding, the Institute of Economics has carried out over 450 projects, over 120 separate publications and over 40 delivered training in business development aspects from entrepreneurial start-ups, developing business skills to IT and financial appraisal trainings.
The Institute of Economics-Skopje publishes the international academic journal “Economic Development”, indexed in EBSCO and CEEOL databases, which includes papers on macro- and micro-economic issues.
Conducting its primary activity, the Institute of Economics has offered and delivered research, training and consultancy services to government institutions, private sector, international organizations, and alike.
The Institute of Economics offers postgraduate programmes, according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), in: International Economics, Financial Management, Business Logistics, Entrepreneurship, Agribusiness, Business Management, and International Management.
The Institute of Economics - Skopje is the founder and member of the Southeastern Europe Association of Economic Institutes (SEEA) established in 2012.
In 2014 the Institute of Economics - Skopje established an Entrepreneurial Laboratory that is focused on activities pertaining to tests, experiments and research in the field of entrepreneurship, development of entrepreneurial skills, managing start-up businesses and development of entrepreneurial companies. The entrepreneurial lab supports start-up businesses in verifying their ideas based on scientific methodologies, techniques, instruments and tools.
